Mr. Thankappan’s intellectual property law practice primarily focuses on the preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications for a broad range of technologies. He also has experience with patentability/invalidity analysis, due diligence, and IP litigation support.
He has experience in a variety of technological areas, including: machine learning, bioinformatics, computer architecture, semiconductors (fabrication, testing, and assembly), circuit design, embedded systems, digital and analog signal processing, telecommunications systems, network security, software development, database management, business processes, cryptography and data security, access control systems, ecommerce and mobile commerce platforms, payment and financial systems, supply chain management, inventory management, Internet of things (IoT) devices, aerospace, biomedical science, emissions detection, industrial and commercial construction, marine electronics, sonar and radar systems, satellite navigation systems, gyroscopic instrumentation, drilling tools, geophysical/wellbore survey data acquisition and processing, well placement and production, and oilfield operations.
Mr. Thankappan received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law. Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Thankappan received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honor society.
